Tom's Trailer

I know that I should lead off the garage profiles with a garage, but I don't like to do the expected.

So, I'm leading off with a couple of toys... one of which acts like a garage. The first is Tom's trailer. As you can see from the picture, it is not just a box that the car get transported in. Tom put in a few nice touches to make it more comfortable.

  • Winch (you can see it at the front of the trailer in the open cabinet)
  • Generator and air compressor (they are just to the left of the winch... mobile for use outside the trailer as well)
  • Nitrogen tank for more consistent tire pressures (on the wall next to the front door)
  • The e-trax are nice to keep everything secured, as are the cabinets at the front of the trailer.
  • There is also an exterior cabinet that usually houses the generator, but Tom has his fuel jugs in it.
Tom's 944 racerWhile we are outside, there is also a generous canopy on the side.

The car is a Porsche 944 dedicated track car. Honestly, I don't have all of the specs, but it is prepped by Motor Werks Racing, Inc in Cumming, GA. (Sorry, I couldn't find a website for them, so this is a listing with their contact info).

What I can say about the car is that it is a dedicated track car with a fuel cell, full cage, gutted interior and racing seats. Of course it has racing harnesses. There is full instrumentation... and a videocamera mount.

Tom's racer interior

Bay 3 in tom's garageTom's garage is not outrageous. It is just a very nice place. He isn't a heavy duty fabricator, but rather a guy that likes his cars and wants them to have a nice place to hang out. So, rather than a polished concrete, or epoxied floor like a race shop, he opted for Racedeck tiles. They won't stand up to heavy fabrication work, but they look good, insulate the floor, and keep spills from getting to it. Tom's storage

Tom does like for his rides to be clean, so he installed a water filtration system for detailing. It keeps the final rinse water cleaner, preventing spotting and streaking.

Tom's BMWFor a little utility, Tom added utility cabinets at the front of the garage. He also added hooks to hang bikes out of the way, and other organizational tidbits.

Finally, just for style, Tom added polished diamond plate accents around theTom's Golf cart garage. They offer a little function, protecting the walls in traffic or storage areas, but are primarily to look cool.

He also has a few other toys... because he can. Aside from the F-350 he uses to pull the racer, he has a BMW335i, a private limo, and a hopped up golf cart.

We won't even start on the "man pit" basement with full bar, wine cellar, billiard table and big screen...

If you would like to have your garage featured here, let me know.
